Being healthy demands a certain level of strength, postural alignment, the ability to perform many different movements simultaneously and the ability to easily interact with the world around you. In a world of chaos your body will have to gracefully; squat, bend, lunge, twist, push, pull and perform variations of gait. In my training I will apply the teachings of masters from throughout the centuries, including breathing from the ancient martial arts, resistance training from Russia and flexibility/mind-body awareness of yogis. First, we will perfect the basics of functional lifting and then build off these basics to take your training, strength, and confidence to the next level.
I have worked with people on all fitness levels, from professional athletes, to working busy moms, to 65+ men and women looking to be able to move their body easier and better. Training your body functionally and treating it as one synchronized unit will build real world strength. You will burn calories faster than ever before with this full body type training. In addition to that, functional training will help to prevent injuries and tightness caused by the muscle isolation exercises seen in most gyms today.
Kettlebell Training is one of my favorite tools to use and is often the form of exercise people didn’t even know they were looking for. A kettlebell uses weight to perform exercises which combine cardiovascular, strength and flexibility training. Kettlebell training begins with learning what you have heard all your life, “lift with your legs, not with your back” and then goes on to show you how many different ways you can use this basic concept. Through many natural movement patterns you will learn to use your body instead of a machine. In addition to kettlebell training we will use many functional tools including ropes, balls, bands, bodyweight and pads for kicks and punches.
